Students at the School of Social Work and Social Welfare can study towards a joint undergraduate degree in law and social work. Students who complete this program will receive a diploma signed by both deans that will—subject to the rules of the Israel Bar Association and the Council of Social Workers—allow them to work in both professions.

Structure of the joint track:

The extent of study required for the joint degree is at least 209 credits, of which at least 115 credits are to be in law and at least 96 credits are to be in social work (66 credits in academic courses and 28 credits in practical training). The smaller extent of studies in social work is conditional upon taking courses in law that contribute to the student’s training in social work as well, therefore the identity of the courses taken and their extent in each field must be approved in advance by an academic committee comprising a representative of the School of Social Work and Social Welfare and a representative of the Faculty of Law.

Acceptance requirements for the program:

The following may be accepted to the program:

• Students who have completed their first year in law with an average of at least 82;
• Students who have completed their first year of social work with an average of at least 85 and who meet the acceptance requirements of the Faculty of Law;
• Students with particularly high acceptance data (meeting the requirements of joint program 402) may begin the program in their first year of study.

Duration of study:

The duration of study for students with especially high acceptance data who are accepted to the program already in their first year is four years, and for students who are accepted to the program in their second year—four and a half years.

Regarding courses in law, the student will take the classes intended for students in joint programs, subject to the detailed instructions of the Faulty of Law yearbook.

Order of studies:

Student who meet the criteria for acceptance to the first year of law school—and who are interested in this program—will begin their studies in the Faculty of Law. If they meet the conditions for progressing to second-year law in the joint programs, they will begin studying first-year social work in parallel to second-year law.

Students who were accepted to the joint programs in law (track number 402) are permitted (but not required) to begin studying social work already in their first year.
