Study tracks | The Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare

Study tracks

The program is composed of three tracks. The student will study in the track to which s/he has been accepted:

  • The advanced studies in direct therapy track
  • The general-integrative track
  • The management, organization and policy track

  1. The advanced studies in direct therapy track

This track is intended to expand the knowledge of social workers and to provide them with advanced and up-to-date tools for treating populations and individuals in distress. The aim of study in this track is to sharpen the understanding and skills for identifying the needs of various populations, methodical planning of means of intervention, evaluating their efficacy and drawing conclusions.

The track aims to advance and to improve the students’ expertise in psycho-social therapy, that realizes the mission of social work and strengthens its unique identity among the therapeutic professions: expertise in communication with clients from varied populations and developing a therapeutic dialog to improve their situation, together with locating and realizing the potential hidden in the client’s environment, his/her community and the systems of the organizations to which s/he belongs, the potential for the client’s growth and changing his/her situation.

The track allows for integration in one of the program’s specializations: children and family, trauma, and disabilities, rehabilitation, and mental health.

  1. The general-integrative track

This track is intended for high-achieving students who wish to continue to the MSW immediately after completing their undergraduate degree, or for students with greater seniority in the profession of social work who wish to deepen their theoretical and research knowledge. The track combines the various approaches in social work, and reflects the School’s emphasis on the combining of direct individual and family therapy with community approaches and macro-level understandings of social change.

The track allows for integration in one of the program’s specializations: children and family, trauma, and disabilities, rehabilitation, and mental health.

  1. The management, organization and policy track

The aim of the management, organization and policy

The track allows for integration in the disabilities, rehabilitation, and mental health specialization.

The track will appear on the diploma. All tracks permit study in both research and non-research tracks.
