Associate Professor

Michal Almog-Bar Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Center for the Study of Civil Society and Philanthropy at the School of Social Work and Social Welfare, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  Her academic work focuses on civil society and nonprofit organizations, specifically on nonprofit organizations providing social services. Her fields of research include: organizational, managerial and employment aspects of nonprofit organizations; policy towards the nonprofit sector; gender in civil society; nonprofit advocacy and cross-sectorial partnerships. She currently serves as an Associate Editor of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly. She has participated in several international comparative projects on nonprofit organizations providing social services and on government policy towards nonprofits. She has been involved in policy formation concerning civil society in Israel and took part in various national committees. She also served as a consultant on civil society, volunteering and cross-sector partnerships to several governmental ministries and public entities in Israel.
